Even though this page is titled " About Your Realtor" , it is for and about you more than you might think. You see in all the years that I have been a Realtor, I have sensed that a majority of the people who practice Real Estate, view this profession as a business in which homes and properties are bought and sold, that also happens to involve people.
I, on the other hand, have always thought that Real Estate was a people business that happens to involve the sale and purchase of property. While this may seem like a play on words, I think it makes all the difference in the world when it comes you, the client. Quite simply YOU, first and foremost, are the most important part of my "business".
When I work with my clients, I make it a point to get to know as much about them as I possibly can. I want to know what they truly want from our association together, their needs, their expectations and their concerns. Real Estate to me is more of a personal business, and I want my clients to know how committed I am to them and their satisfaction.
When you choose a Realtor to represent you, I feel it's only fair that you should know as much as you can about that person. Why?, well for the most part your home is, or will be your single largest investment, shouldn't you get to know as much as you can about the person you are placing your trust in? This page is my way of telling you alittle about myself, so when we meet you will feel like you already know me.
I was born in New York City in the winter on 1956. I was raised in Fort Lee , when it still was a smaller, tight little community. Everyone knew everyone's children by their first names, and we really didn't have to lock our doors. It was such an ethnic and wonderful place to grow up. I was so lucky to be raised by 2 beautiful parents, my mother Evangelia and my dad Jimmy. As a child , I was brought up with a strong Greek - American heritage, and so very proud of both. I was taught the value and love of family, the honor of parents, and the meaning of being a man. Respect was something that you gave, and had to work to earn.
I graduated from Fort Lee High School, and went on to William Paterson College. I've worked a few jobs since then, I was a hospital orderly, a mechanic, and I even received time off from one of my jobs to go into N.Y.C, and audition for the part of Elvis Presley in a movie about him shortly after his death. Needless to say my name and handprints are not on a sidewalk in L.A., so we know how that turned out, but it was a remarkable experience just the same. In 1985 I became interested in the field of Real Estate, and decided to join the profession. I love Real Estate, and even to this day, I never get tired when placing a set of keys in the hands of new or first time homeowners, and watching their faces as they light up with pride. I presently live in Maywood, with the love of my life, and my best friend , my beautiful wife Laura. Her honesty, her sincerity, and her words of encouragement, are a constant reminder of how lucky I really am, and my inspriration each and every day. I love sports, have played baseball, softball, and coached a womens softball team to 2 Championships. These days you'll find me on any one of our wonderful Bergen County golf courses, as I have become what my friends call a golf nut.
I look forward to meeting you and assisting you to realize all your Real Estate needs. It is my goal and my pleasure to make new friends of my clients, and to be there anytime you should need me. So give me a call, I just might be the Realtor you've been looking for.
You've Got a Friend in the Business.
Sincerely, Lou Callias - Realtor / e-PRO
